How to create a simple startup strategy with less marketing knowledge (and create context based story)

There was a race between rabbit and tortoise on that day. Everyone in the forest family predicted that it is easy for the rabbit to beat the tortoise. On the race day, the race happened as obvious the rabbit could win easily with many hours ahead. Then the rabbit has won the award and claimed himself as a champion. Next year, the same race happened. But this time, heavy rain and rivers flowing down all over the forest and blocking the way. This time, the rabbit ran very fast and ended up at the riverside where it could not even try to cross. But tortoise cooly crossed the river by swimming and reached the race point many hours before, and the rabbit was no were at this site.

Often in our lives, sometimes we act like a rabbit, and sometimes we act like a tortoise. We need both fast and slow skills to succeed as part of the startup environment. Tortoise knowledge of walking in the land is slow but swimming in the water is fast. If we replace tortoise with our knowledge, we may have a weakness in one context, but the same knowledge will have a strength in different context.

So in this article, we go through three points and cover why knowledge with context is decisive.

  1. Why knowledge alone does not create confidence
  2. How to work with context-based knowledge
  3. How to beat your competition with context

Let’s go through three parts of this article.

Why knowledge does not create confidence

You have started your business based on what you know and the knowledge you have with your business. But when you start working with the knowledge, you feel the imposter syndrome, and you cannot move much with the experience you have. Often the world tells us that we need more and more and attain more and more knowledge. Everywhere the self-help gurus and marketing gurus tell you to run a business, you need more experience. The worldly teaching creates a feeling that your background is not sufficient even though you have done all the hard work and want you to feel small. Their core business lies in making you small and making you the average person to learn from them. Also, they teach the knowledge and leave you without teaching the context to keep going to them again and again. Let’s go through the second part and understand more about this.

How to work with context-based knowledge

Your knowledge will have a different meaning when it is presented in a different context. Why is it like that? The language works like this way, and context is the core of the communication. When you have a word, the word has a different meaning when you term it as a Noun, Adjective, Verb, Adverb even though you have a meaning of the word, the purpose of the word changes based on its assigned place. Similar way, the sentence will have a different meaning in different contexts. For example, we cannot congratulate a person who could not complete the marathon and take dehydration medicine. You know the meaning of congratulations, but you cannot use it all the time. Now, let’s focus on the third part.

How to beat your competition with your way

When you are a startup and do your marketing, you have inherent problems that often we don’t find a new idea for our products. But how do you find your product has an additional attribute like the tortoise that can swim? When you think about all the contexts with your product, you can see the different ways that the product is applied as part of people’s life. This gives not only knowledge about your product but the context and meaning of the product. When you market your product with context and its purpose, then people instantly receive your message. The good thing is that your competitors cannot see your context, and all they can see is your product. So when customers give their feedback specifically, look out for context-related feedbacks. If you are observing the competitor product again, look out for contexts.

Summary

You can find more than one context, but the sooner you find the context, the more you can use your knowledge and context to lead to your self-confidence. This article has covered that vague knowledge does not lead us anywhere and applies context-based knowledge and works with context-based knowledge to beat the competition. Once you can practice using context according to your understanding and where your knowledge will be useful, you start creating a marketplace for you and a marketplace for your startup. You can find your swimming place with your strength and win the race like a tortoise.
